The first day of school is right around the corner! Here is some important back to school information:

West School will be hosting the annual Back to School Fair on Saturday, Aug. 19 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Families of preschool through 5th grade students (from East and West Schools) are invited to attend the fair and visit the tables set up by local agencies, clubs and organizations. There will be free school supplies, a snack and free haircuts available. Erin Peoples, principal, gave out a thank you "to our hard working Teacher's Association for putting on this event."

This year the Back to School Fair is being held in conjunction with the Gateway to Fall Community Festival at the West and High schools. Families will be able to enjoy many different festival activities after attending the Back to School Fair. There will be inflatables, pony rides, food stands, games, vendors and more at the festival.

Open House for West School students will be Tuesday, Aug. 22 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Students and their families are invited to come into the building, find their classroom and meet their teachers.

School starts for students on Wednesday, Aug. 23.

Doors will not be open before 7:30 a.m. When students arrive at school, they should enter either the front doors on Beaver Street or the back doors by the Art room and Cafeteria (off the back parking lot.) All other doors will be locked. School officials ask that parents do not come into the building and walk their child to their classrooms.

Staff members will be out in the hallways to help students find their way. As part of the school safety plan, parents are permitted in the building only if they have signed in at the office and picked up a visitor's badge.

When students arrive at school they should report to the cafeteria. Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria until 8:15 a.m. every day. Breakfast is FREE for ALL students.

The tardy bell will ring at 8:15 a.m. Parents should make sure that the student arrives on time.
