Hope Parties

Victory Assembly of God is presenting Hope Parties for the community in an effort to keep our drug and sin free! Hope Parties are scheduled for Wednesdays from 7-8 p.m. beginning Aug. 30 and running on consecutive Wednesday nights for five weeks with the fifth Hope Party on Sept. 27. Hope Parties will be at 311 S. College St. in Newcomerstown. The parties will be on the State Street lawn. In case of inclement weather the parties will move inside the church building. Hope Parties are designed with two goals in mind: Provide fun, wholesome activities with a positive drug free message; and provide students with mentoring and leadership development opportunities as they join the Hope Party Event Team.


St. Peter's Church, Oldtown Valley Road, New Phildelphia, will host a "MusicFest" from 6-8 p.m. featuring the Sunday morning worship and praise ensemble, with a special guest vocalist, Gabby Heter. There will be a light picnic dinner served.

Board of Directors

A meeting of the Board of Directors of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District will be Friday, Aug. 25, at 9 a.m. at the Science and Technology Center, Kent State University Tuscarawas, 330 University Drive NE, New Philadelphia.

Class of 1957

The Newcomerstown High School Class of 1957 will hold its next luncheon on Sept. 5 at noon at the Tents of Grace restaurant in Gnadenhutten.

West Lafayette council will have a public safety fire committee meeting on Sept. 13, at 7 p.m.

The Newcomerstown High School Class of 1956 will meet Thursday, Sept. 14, at noon at the Winterset Kitchen.

Hart as 'survivor'

Chris Hart will be portraying a 9/11 survivor on Sept. 8 at the Old Main Street Museum and Social Center at 213 W. Canal St., Newcomerstown. Tickets are $20 and will include a meal of baked spaghetti, salad, breadsticks, dessert and drink. Mod Rod Pull

BAKERSVILLE -- The Bakersville Volunteer Fire Department will host the Ohio Mod Rod Pulling Association on Friday, Sept. 1 at the Bud Hawk Arena located at Route 751 and County Road 2. Weigh-in begins at 6 p.m. followed by the pull at 7 p.m. The association will be pulling stock garden tractors up to garden tractors with V8 engines.
