BERLIN — Visiting Indian Valley High remained perfect in its first year in the Inter-Valley Conference with a three-set sweep over Hiland by scores of 25-14, 25-23 and 25-20 in volleyball action Tuesday.

Pacing the Lady Braves offense was Reagan Love and Kitanna Rakestraw with 10 service points each. Love added a team-high 20 assists while Kitanna Rakestraw slammed 13 kills and Kiara Rakestraw recorded 11 kills.

Payton Guspyt led the defense with 26 digs.

Following the victory, Indian Valley is now 5-0 and 3-0 in the IVC.


UHRICHSVILLE — In a Inter-Valley Conference clash Tuesday, the host Claymont Lady Mustangs swept past the visiting Newcomerstown Lady Trojans in three straight sets by scores of 25-9, 25-15 and 25-16.

For the Lady Trojans, Brea Garreteson and Maddie Fish had 10 service points with a pair of service aces each, while Leah Kellish led the team at the net with six kills.


WEST LAFAYETTE — Ridgewood High moved above the .500 mark for the season with hard-fought five set win over Garaway HIgh in Inter-Valley Conference volleyball action on Wednesday.

The Lady Generals improved to 3-2 with the victory by scores of 25-17, 14-25, 19-25, 25-18 and 15-9.

Ridgewood defeated Garaway away by scores of 25-17, 14-25, 19-25, 25-18, and 15-9.

Cassie Mladek paced the RHS effort with 17 kills, 18 digs, five blocks, 7 points (1 ace), while Abbey Kellish added 20 digs, 10 kills,six blocks and eight points with Sydney Zinkon collecting 21 assists, six points (1 ace) and Riley Young tallied 20 digs. Carly Young finished with 17 digs, 15 points (1 ace) and Morgan Matis recorded eight blocks for the Lady Generals.

GNADENHUTTEN - In a battle of unbeatens Thursday, the host Indian Valley Lady Braves spotted the visiting Buckeye Trail Lady Warriors a win in the opening set and then reeled off three straight wins to claim a 3-1 Inter-Valley Conference victory.

Buckeye Trail won the opening set by a 25-19 score, then the Lady Braves (6-0, 4-0 IVC) strung together wins of 25-10, 25-8 and 25-16 to pocket the 3-1 win.

Reagan Love paced the Indian Valley offense with 25 points and also handed out 23 assists. Payton Guspyt added seven points and one assist. Guspyt also led the defense with 20 digs with Love adding eight digs, Kiara Rakestraw five and Kitanna Rakestraw three.

At the net, Kitanna Rakestraw led the way with 13 kills and seven blocks with sister Kiara adding 12 stops and one block.

NEWCOMERSTOWN — Breaking into the win column, the Newcomerstown Lady Trojans swept past the visiting Heritage Christian Lady Conquerors by scores of 25-6. 25-8 and 25-8 in a non-conference contest Thursday.

For Newcomerstown, Sydni Zufelt tallied 17 points with five service aces with Leah Kellish adding 15 points including five aces and led the Lady Trojans at the net with three kills. Brea Garretson added 11 points (6 aces) and added two kills.

WEST LAFAYETTE - Ridgewood High dropped a four-set match to Hiland in Inter-Valley Conference play Thursday, winning the first set 25-22 before falling in the next three by 25-21, 25-11 and 25-20 scores.

Stat leaders for the Lady Generals (3-3) were Cassie Mladek with 12 kills and 17 digs;Abbey Kellish with 17 digs and eight kills; Sydney Zinkon with 15 assists and five points; Carly Griffith with 14 digs and seven points; Rylee Young with 16 digs; Morgan Matis with eight blocks and four kills; and Aleeah Cabot with 13 assists and seven points.
