Century National Bank recently presented Marilyn Kramer and Jason Peoples of the Newcomerstown Exempted Village School District with a $1,000 donation to assist the district in obtaining the Community Connectors Grant from the Ohio Department of Education.

The grant seeks to strengthen communities, encourage mentoring opportunities, and create new pathways for civic engagement that will result in higher education achievement, higher levels or well-being and health, and workforce readiness for the state.

The grant will not only match each dollar contributed by local partnerships but also triple it in the amount awarded to the school.

"We could not be more excited to partner with our local school," said Paulla Emery, Century’s Newcomerstown office manager. "The opportunities presented to the youth in our area through this grant funding will offer great life lessons and applicable experience they can use as they continue to learn and grow."

The grant will fund The Newcomerstown Community Partnership between Newcomerstown Exempted Village Schools, Christ United Methodist Church, Newcomerstown Library and local businesses, such as Century National Bank.

The goal of the partnership is to enhance education and provide students and their families with leadership and life skills. Several programs have been created with a few of the school’s partners in this effort, and will be made available to students and their families as the opportunities are available.
