To start the school year at Newcomerstown Middle School on a positive note, Beth McCune, 8th-grade math teacher, decided to have the 8th-grade students as well as all of the other 8th-grade teachers each decorate a puzzle piece to represent themselves. Each piece was to include the person's name and show all of their favorite things. This allowed for the students and teachers to get to know a little bit about one another as they began this school year together. The puzzle pieces were then all hooked together to show that each of us is different with our own likes and talents, yet when we all come together, our puzzle is complete. The point of this activity was to show that we can accomplish great things when we each learn to value one another's individual talents and gifts and learn to work together. This completed puzzle is on display in the second floor hallway at Newcomerstown Middle School.
