ODELL — A 1-year-old child was seriously injured Thursday afternoon when she was stepped on by a horse at a Pebble Road property in northern Guernsey County.

The name of the victim was not released by authorities prior to press time.

The girl was reportedly flown by MedFlight to an undisclosed hospital because she was having difficulty breathing after being stepped on by the horse.

According to reports, emergency responders were dispatched to the Pebble Road property at 2 p.m. after a caller advised a 1-year-old had been kicked by a horse, according to a dispatch log at the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office.

The caller reportedly advised the girl was alert following the accident.

Emergency responders from the Antrim Community Volunteer Fire Department, Liberty Community Volunteer Fire Department, Old Washington Volunteer Fire Department and United Ambulance were dispatched to the scene in Monroe Township.

On arrival, emergency responders reported the girl was actually stepped on by the horse and she was having difficulty breathing.

MedFlight medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene and firefighters from the Liberty and Old Washington departments were requested to establish a landing zone.
