Visit the Newcomerstown Public Library for a free lunch on Wednesday, Sept. 27. Doctor a bowl of chili at the chili bar or sample the cook-off contestants' recipes. If you think your recipe can wow the panel of judges, be sure to sign up. First place is a $50 Amazon gift card.
A Cy Young Days Festival roast beef dinner will be Sunday, Oct. 1, from noon to 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The meal will consist of roast beef, mashed potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, roll, dessert and drink for $8. Eat in or carry out. The Newcomerstown High School Student Council and National Honor Society are once again hosting a parade to kick-off the 2017 homecoming festivities. The parade will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 27, beginning at 3:45 p.m. on the west side of the high school. Line-up will begin at 3:25 p.m. Any organization, club, church, business, etc, who would like to participate should contact Sally Lenhoff at the high school at 498-5111, ext. 11124.
Calvary United Methodist Church, at the corner of State Street and Heller Drive, will hold a spaghetti supper on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m?. The church is handicapped accessible and the supper is open to the public.
Class of 1960
The Newcomerstown High School Class of 1960 will meet at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at Allison's Fine Diner, located at 11587 Upper Gitchrist Rd., Mt. Vernon, Ohio 43050.
Newcomerstown Mayor Pat Cadle reported the Tuscarawas County Health Department is sponsoring a tire cleanup day at the Newcomerstown Street Department on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon. It is a free drop off for only Tuscarawas County residents. You must provide a valid photo ID and disclose the origin location of the tires. No tractor tires will accepted. There is no limit and there will be assistance there. There will be a one way entrance from State Street to the Street Department and exit from beside the Fire House to S. College Street. There will be two containers available. When these containers are full, the acceptance of tires will be ended no matter what time it is.
