Margaret E. Stoffer, 97, of Newcomerstown passed Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Community Hospice House, New Philadelphia.

She was born April 15, 1920 in Shadyside to the late Robert Lundie and Alice (Pryor) Hendershot.

She was treasuer for Home Building & Loan for 25 years and held her Ohio Real Estate License. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Newcomerstown, serving as treasurer for 25 years. She was a member and did the finances and ticket sales for PTA Minstral's. She was also a member of Maplewood PTA, Eastern Star - Oriental Chapter, Women's Business Club and Newcomerstown Mother's Club. She helped start the Newcomerstown School's first cafeteria and the first Newcomerstown Youth Center.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dean Palmer, in August of 1964 and then was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Stoffer, on April 30, 2003.

She is survived by her son, John Palmer and wife Kristy Ferrell Tipton of Cody, WY; step-daughter, Beth Stoffer Bentz and husband Bill of Apple Valley; four grandchildren, Beth (Wayne) Slaughter, Debbie (Duane) Warren, Robert Palmer, and Brian Scott Palmer; two step-grandchildren, Amy and Richard; 11 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Palmer Elliott Eaton; her brother and sister-in-law, John "Bill" and Marilyn Hendershot.
