NEWCOMERSTOWN - Host Newcomerstown won the opening set by a 25-23 before the visiting Ridgewood Lady Generals reeled off three straight by scores of 25-17, 25-23 and 25-19 to escape with a 3-1 Inter-Valley Conference victory.
Leading the offense for Newcomerstown was Maddie Fish with 14 points including one service ace. Sydni Zufelt followed with 13 points, while Leah Kellish added 12 points with two aces, while Elizabeth Landis followed with nine points and handed out 19 assists.
Defensively, Zufelt led the way with 11 digs while Amaris Wells added eight. In net action, Erin Lynch slammed nine kills with Kellish adding five stops.
For Ridgewood, Cassie Mladek had 14 kills and seven digs with Abbey Kellish adding 10 kills and 15 digs. Sydney Zinkon tallied 13 points with one service ace and dished out 18 assists. Aleeah Cabot added four points and 13 assists while recording seven digs.
Morgan Matis had four points with three aces and slammed six kills to go with five blocks. Jaelyn McGee and Zayvia Stanton had five blocks each and Rylee Young recorded 12 digs.
GNADENHUTTEN — Host Indian Valley swept past the visiting Sandy Valley Lady Cardinals by scores of 25-11, 25-9 and 25-19 in Inter-Valley Conference volleyball action Wednesday.
Indian Valley (9-3, 7-1 IVC) was paced offensively by Brenlyn Rostad with 13 points with Reagan Love adding 12 points and 20 assists. Payton Guspyt added six points and one assist, while Kitanna Rakestraw chipped in with two points.
Defensively, Guspyt led the way with 24 digs with Rostad adding six digs and Love four. Rakestraw was the leading attacker with 11 kills and three blocks, while Guspyt added one kill.
NEW PHILADELPHIA — In a Inter-Valley Conference volleyball contest Wednesday, the host Tuscarawas Central Catholic Lady Saints had to go five sets to get past the visiting Newcomerstown Lady Trojans for a 3-2 win.
Newcomerstown won the opening set 25-21, but the Lady Saints held on to win the second set 26-24. Newcomerstown then gained the edge again with a 26-24 win in the third set, but TCC bounced back for a 25-19 win in the fourth set to force the fifth and deciding set which the Lady Saints won by a 15-10 score for the 3-2 match victory.
For Newcomerstown, Maddie Fish scored 18 points with one ace and had 14 digs on defense. Brea Garretson added 16 points with two service aces, while Elizabeth Landis dished out 45 assists and added 14 digs on defense.
At the net, Madison Shisler led the Lady Trojans with 13 kills and also led defensively with 15 digs. Leah Kellish added 11 kills.
BERLIN — It took five sets, but host Hiland was able to down Indian Valley High by scores of 19-25, 25-16, 25-19, 14-25 and 15-11 in Inter-Valley Conference volleyball action on Thursday.
Leaders for the Lady Braves include Payton Guspyt with 28 digs and six service points, Reagan Love with 20 points, 23 assists and eight digs, Kiara Rakestraw with 13 kills and 10 digs and Alex Corra who chipped in with four kills and six blocks.
Following the loss, Indian Valley falls to 9-4 overall and 7-2 in the IVC.
NEWCOMERSTOWN — Visiting Claymont High rolled to a three-set sweep over Newcomerstown High by scores of 25-7, 25-18 and 25-7 in Inter-Valley Conference volleyball action Thursday.
Pacing the Lady Mustangs was Mackenzi Ueltschy with 15 points while Reagan Norman added 16 assists and Keanna Avery with 13 kills and 10 assists.
WEST LAFAYETTE - Host Ridgewood High scored a three-set win over Garaway in Inter-Valley Conference play, winning by 25-17, 25-23 adn 25-20 scores.
Abbey Kellish led Ridgewood with 13 kills, seven digs, 12 points and six aces. Cassie Mladek collected eight kills, eight digs and three points; Morgan Matis had seven points (four aces) and seven blocks; Sydney Zinkon had 13 assists and four points; Carly Griffith had 11 digs and four points; Rylee Young notched eight digs; Kalie Rettos collected seven kills; and Jaelyn McGee had six blocks.

NEW LEXINGTON - The visiting Newcomerstown Lady Trojans picked up a four-set victory over the New Lexington Lady Panthers by scores of 25-16, 15-25, 25-23, 25-9 in prep volleyball action on Saturday.
Leaders for the Lady Trojans include Madison Shisler with 19 service points, seven aces, 11 kills and eight digs while Elizabeth Landis dished out 31 assists, scored 15 points and led the team with 14 digs.
Leah Kellish recorded 16 points, two aces, six kills and seven digs and Brea Garretson chipped in nine kills.
