It has been 50 years since members of the Newcomerstown High School Class of 1967 received their diplomas and left the halls of dear old NHS. On Saturday, Oct.r 21, members joined together once again at Raven’s Glen Winery to celebrate and reminisce.
Allen Collins served as master of ceremonies. Randy Little served as disc jockey. A buffet-style meal was prepared by Raven’s Glen.
The invocation was given by Pastor Michael Vierheller, husband of class member Jane Gibson Vierheller.
Local resident Chris Hart, known for his various history portrayals entertained the class with memories of their former school superintendent, D.B. Roeder, and recalling the tornado that struck Newcomerstown in March, 1955. Members of the class were in kindergarten the year the tornado occurred. The classes were held at various locations throughout town the following school year when the class entered the first grade. Hart researches and writes all of his programs.
The class song, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ was sung, being led by classmate Connie Schlarb Funk. Class colors are burgundy and pink, and the class flower, a pink rose. Their class motto "Today we are making tomorrow’s memories."
