Newcomerstown Middle School students had a shadowing day on Nov.9. Six NMS seventh grade students visited the office of Newcomerstown Mayor Pat Cadle. They learned about local government careers, including careers in Fiscal, Streets & Cemetery, Water & Sewer, and how the mayor coordinates the departments. They also learned about the training or education needed for those careers, learned about the village's "no drugs in the workplace policy," received a tour of the municipal building and were asked to create a 5-year plan for Newcomerstown, including changes and improvements they'd like to see. In groups of two, the students then presented their solutions to Mayor Pat Cadle and Fiscal Officer Lisa Stiteler. The six students involved in this shadowing day were Julie Ostrow, Jacie Tedrow, Olivia Valdez, Chance Warren, Gabby Weaver and Brandon Weber. School officials and students said hank you to Mayor Cadle and everyone who helped make this such an enjoyable, informative and successful day for students.
