NEWCOMERSTOWN — Anyone who knows Dave Archer knows he will have absolutely no problem enjoying retirement.

Archer has been a recognizable presence in Newcomerstown and the local business community through his over 40 years in finance. He plans to retire from the Dover-Phila Credit Union on Jan. 2, 2018, giving him more opportunities to use his well-known sense of humor.

"I have enjoyed my time getting to know people in and around our great community in my 42 years in banking," Archer said. "I have had the opportunity to work with great coworkers who made going to work enjoyable. One of the best things about my job has been helping those in need be it with a loan to establish credit or with some financial advice. I have truly enjoyed my customers and while I will miss them, I know I’ll see them around town."

A native of New Concord, Archer said he started his career at Household Finance in Zanesville in 1975. In 1977 he moved to Newcomerstown and went to work for Reeves Bank which then became Huntington Bank. Archer worked at Huntington until moving on to the Dover-Phila Federal Credit Union.

"I plan to travel with my wife, Karen, and family as often as possible," Archer said. "Our favorite place to be besides home is the ocean and the beach. I am looking forward to honing my skills on my grill and smoker. I enjoy auctions, doing yard work and landscaping and walking."

Dave and Karen have three adult children, Abby, Andy, and Nate and their spouses; and eight grandchildren.

In announcing the retirement, Jack Dooling, chief executive officer and president of Dover-Phila Credit Union, said, "Dave has helped the credit union become a presence in Newcomerstown and has been instrumental in the growth of that branch. We wish Dave the very best in retirement, and we thank him for his service and friendship."

Taking over Dave Archer’s position as branch manager of the Newcomerstown office is Becki Allen. Becki will maintain some of her current duties as well as new undertakings as branch manager that include overseeing staff and loan origination and closing.

Becki was a full-time teller and head teller in the banking industry for 20 years before joining the credit union family in February 2013 as head teller of the Newcomerstown office.

Deb Beckley was promoted to head teller in Newcomerstown. She will maintain her current duties and take on new responsibilities such as managing teller operations and cash handling.
