While the recent winter weather kept many at home, it was an opportunity to admire nature’s handiwork in the snow-covered serenity of southeastern Ohio. Managing Editor Ray Booth captured these images while driving around Newcomerstown this week.
Country Living magazine also recently had these quotes about the beauty of a snowy winter day:
Edmund Hillary: "Despite all I have seen and experienced, I still get the same simple thrill out of glimpsing a tiny patch of snow in a high mountain gully and feel the same urge to climb toward it."
Carol Rifka Brunt: "There's just something beautiful about walking in snow that nobody else has walked on. It makes you believe you're special."
Sara Coleridge: "January brings the snow, makes our feet and fingers glow."
Antoinette van Kleef: "When snow falls, nature listens."
Lama Willa: "The snow is sparkling like a million little suns."
Susan Orlean: "A snow day literally and figuratively falls from the sky—unbidden—and seems like a thing of wonder."
Andy Goldsworthy: "Snow provokes responses that reach right back to childhood."
Author Unknown: "A snowflake is one of God's most fragile creations, but look what they can do when they stick together!"
Unknown: "Snowflakes are kisses from heaven."
Kahlil Gibran: "Kindness is like snow—It beautifies everything it covers."
William Hamilton Gibson: "Silently, like thoughts that come and go, the snowflakes fall, each one a gem."
Unknown: "When it snows, you have two choices: shovel or make snow angels."
Roger Ebert: "The very fact of snow is such an amazement."
