Because many of the pictures that were submitted for the look at The Sweet Hearts Follies didn’t make into the print edition of The Newcomerstown News, we’re presenting a second look at the community variety show featured in the Feb. 14 issue of The News.
Wanda Belle, a mainstay of the early shows remembered, "The best memory of Follies...I was singing ‘New York, New York’ and the dancers were behind me, doing their thing, when Terrie Baker's shoe came off and flew right over my head!!! The best memory overall was being chairman of the Follies. What an experience! I believe it was when we had "Uncle Ed" as directer of the Follies. One thing I remember was how we all pulled together when Uncle Ed was not himself. I also learned how grown people could be little kids and misbehave sometimes. It was a wonderful time in my life. I stepped out of myself and found it was fun. All of them were fun to be in!"
