NEW PHILADELPHIA — The Ohio Department of Transportation has estimated spending nearly $29 million on 21 projects in Tuscarawas County during the 2018 Construction Season.

In all, ODOT will spend an estimated $180 million on 101 projects in District 11 including 34 slide repairs, 26 paving projects, 19 bridge/culvert projects and seven safety improvements.

ODOT District 11 includes Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Harrison, Holmes, Jefferson and Tuscarawas counties.

"Roads and bridges don’t get better over time. That’s why 90 cents of every dollar we’re investing this year is to take care of what we have," said ODOT Director Jerry Wray of the $2.35 billion that will be spent on nearly 1,000 projects statewide. "We’re using better data and more frequent maintenance to address the small issues with our infrastructure before they become big issues."

ODOT and contractors will repair or replace 5,645 miles of pavement perform work on 1,040 bridges located in the state.
