OLD WASHINGTON — Behind the strong pitching efforts of senior Jenni Carmichael the Buckeye Trail Lady Warriors blanked visiting Newcomerstown by a final count of 10-0 in five-innings on Monday in Inter-Valley Conference softball action.
Carmichael tossed a one-hitter in recording the shutout for Trail to improve her season mark to 3-0, finishing with five Ks and no walks.
Handling the bulk of the Lady Warriors’ offensive load was senior Hannah Smith with a pair of home runs, a single with six RBIs. Brooke Colvin chipped in with a triple and two singles, while Randi Leigh Rippeth contributed a double with a pair of basehits for Trail (10-1, 3-1 IVC).
Maddie Fish singled for the lone hit by Newcomerstown (4-8, 1-3 IVC).
Indian Valley 11, Newcomerstown 1
GNADENHUTTEN -- Host Indian Valley erupted for seven runs in the first inning and never looked back as it went on to defeat Newcomerstown, 11-1, in five innings in an Inter-Valley Conference game on Thursday.
Courtney Beckley (4-1) picked up the pitching win for the Lady Braves with six strikeouts in five innings while Erica Maldonado suffered the loss for the Lady Trojans with four walks in a complete-game effort.
Leading the offense for Newcomerstown (4-8, 2-8 IVC) was Leah Kellish with two singles.
For Indian Valley (12-2, 7-0), Morgan Spillman led the way with a double, a single and three RBI.
East Canton 14, Ridgewood 5
WEST LAFAYETTE — Powerful East Canton rolled past host Ridgewood High, 14-5 in an Inter-Valley Conference softball match-up on Friday.
With the IVC road win, East Canton improves to 12-3 on the season with the Lady Generals slipping to 5-10.
Sadie Wilson swung a big bat for RHS by belting a grand slam home run in the first inning, along with a RBI double in the seventh frame.
Sydney Zinkon took the pitching loss for Ridgewood, working six innings with three Ks and five walks.
Tusky Valley 18, Newcomerstown 1
NEWCOMERSTOWN — Host Newcomerstown High suffered an 18-1 setback at the hands of the Tusky Valley Lady Trojans in an Inter-Valley Conference crossover game on Friday.
Erica Maldonado took the loss in the circle for NHS with a pair of strikeouts and walks in a complete-game effort.
Newcomerstown (4-9) banged out seven hits paced by Leah Kellish with a double and single and Kayla Gibson with a double.
Indian Valley 13, Conotton Valley 0
GNADENHUTTEN -- Indian Valley’s Kayla Tschudy was one batter away from a perfect game in Friday’s 13-0 rout of Conotton Valley.
Tschudy (9-1) allowed the lone hit of the game with one out in the fifth inning, but finished with a complete-game shutout fanning six without issuing a walk.
Pacing the Lady Braves (13-2) at the plate was Maddie Dryden who scorched a home run, a single and two RBIs while Kiersten Dorto smacked a two-run homer run.
Payton Guspyt added a double and a single while Courtney Beckley chipped in with a double.
