The Plainfield Memorial Day service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sunday, May 27, at the Plainfield Cemetery (Plainfield United Methodist Church in case of inclement weather).
The Ridgewood High School Marching Generals Band and high school choir will be performing. The Plainfield United Methodist Church choir will also share a choral selection.
Honored will be members of the Armed Forces, as well as those from the community, who have passed away in the past year. The Coshocton County Honor Guard will assist in honoring service personnel.
Guest speaker will be Denny Blindfold, retired teacher and administrator from the River View School District. Several others from the community will be assisting in the service.The Coshocton annual parade and service for Memorial Day will be Monday, May 28, at 10 a.m. Services will be on the Courthouse Squre immediately following the parade. Speakers will be Blue Star Mothers representative Lynn Leach and Coshocton Mayor Steve Mercer. River View High School Senior Styler Stewart will recite her Voice of Democracy speech and Pastor Dave Fowls of Perry Chapel Baptist Church will give the invocation and benediction. There will be a tribute to "Fallen Comrades."
The 136th annual Keene Veterans Memorial Celebration will be Saturday, May 27, at 9:30 a.m. at KeeneUnited Methodist Church with Desert Storm Army Sgt. Larry Tumblin, River View graduate, speaking. The church’s Relay for Life team will serve a lunch from 10:30 alm.to non at the church.The Memorial Day parade will start at noon, led by Grand Marshall Lister Endsley, the Walhonding Rube Band and the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Department. Keene is recognized as the second oldest continuously held Memorial Day parade in Ohio. The Warsaw American Legion Post 634 will give a 21-gun salute.
