MILLERSBURG - Several athletes from Indian Valley and Ridgewood qualified for this week’s regional thanks to top four place finishes in the Division II District Meet hosted by West Holmes High School on Saturday.
Minerva won the girls’ meet with 123 points to 117 for runner-up Tuscarawas Valley. Indian Valley was third with 87.
West Holmes captured the boys’ meet with 113.5 points to 98 for runner-up River View. Indian Valley placed sixth with 56 points and Ridgewood was ninth with 30.5
Leading the way for the Indian Valley boys was Zack Love, who scored a "triple"by winning the 110 hurdles (15.29), the 300 hurdles (40.49) and the pole vault (14-0).
Hunter Probert was the district champion in the 800 (2:00.35) while also advancing to the regional were Nick Love, fourth in the discus (131-10); and the Braves’ 4x400-meter relay team which placed third (3:32.87).
For the Ridgewood boys, J.J. Durr finished second in the discus (145-2) and third in the shot put (47-11) while the Generals’ 4x100-meter relay team was fourth (45.01).
Advancing for the Indian Valley girls were Ashton Warner, first in the shot put (39-11); Kitanna Rakestraw, second in the high jump (5-0) and third in the long jump (16-1); Brittney Roth, second in the 1600 (5:27.81) and third in the 3200 (12:02.79); Ellie McDaniel, second in the pole vault (10-0); Madylin McDaniel, fourth in the 100 hurdles (16.7); Shaylee Shepherd, fourth in the long jump (15-4.75); Brynn Myers, fourth in the pole vault (8-6).
The Lady Braves also qualified two relay teams — finishing third in the 4x400 (4:18.99) and fourth in the 4x200 relay (1:52.65).
NEXT- The D-II Regional Meet will take place Thursday and Saturday at Muskingum University in New Concord.

ST. CLAIRSVILLE —The Malvern girls and Buckeye Trail boys capture team titles at the Division III District Meet at St. Clairsville High’s Red Devil Stadium on Friday, with Ridgewood’s girls turning in a third place finish.
On the girls’ side, Malvern claimed the team title in a closely-contested battle, scoring 97 points to 95 for runner-up Garaway.
Behind Malvern and Garaway in the girls’ meet were Ridgewood (72), Shadyside (68), Tusky Catholic (51), Buckeye Trail (43), Steubenville Catholic (42), Caldwell (37), Newcomerstown (37), Bellaire (28), Shenandoah (27), Monroe Central (13), Fort Frye (11), East Richland Christian (11), Hiland (9), Toronto (7), Strasburg (7), River (5) and Bridgeport (2).
The Lady Generals had two athletes — Alexis Prater and Grace Gottwalt — qualify for the regional in three individual events.
Praters took first place in the long jump (17-8.5, new district record), first in the 100 hurdles (14.86) and second in the 100 (12.17) while Gottwalt was third in the 100 hurdles (15.93), third in the 100 (13.10) and fifth in the 300 hurdles (48.14).
Also advancing for the Ridgewood girls was the first place 4x100-meter relay team (51.31) and Taylor Haarman, who finished third in the discus (108-11).
Advancing for the Newcomerstown girls were Jade Johnson, fourth in the shot put (33-5.5) and fourth in the discus (102-4); Erin Lynch, fourth in the long jump (15-1.5); Kim Halsey, fourth in the pole vault (8-6); and the 4x800 relay team (Trew Davis, Eva Donathan, Haley Robinson, Katelyn Glazer), fourth in 11:21.70.

The Buckeye Trail boys piled up 86 points to claim the team championship, with Steubenville Catholic Central as the runner-up with 68 points.
The rest of the boys’ scoring behind Trail and Steubenville Catholic included Garaway (58.5), Shenandoah (55), Hiland (52), Caldwell (52), Shadyside (43), Newcomerstown (42), Fort Frye (41), Barnesville (41), Bishop Rosecrans (30), River (21), Malvern (20), Strasburg (17), Tusky Catholic (15), East Richland Christian (12), Bridgeport (4), Frontier (2) and Toronto (1.5).
Leading the charge for Newcomertown’s qualifiers was Hunter Garretson, first in the pole vault (15-1, district record) and third in the 300 hurdles (42.41). Also advancing were Dylan Garretson, second in the 110 hurdles (16.87); Calvin Ringer, fourth in the shot put (42-5); the 4x100 relay team (Chase Bryant, Noah Creeger, Hunter Garretson, Ryan Stevens), second in 46.43; and the 4x400 relay team (H. Garretson, D. Garretson, Creeger, Tanner Norman), fourth in 3:40.25.
Last year’s Division III State Champion in the pole vault, Ryan Stevens, finished with no height and thus failed to advance.
There were no Ridgewood boys in the top four at the district.
NEXT- The D-III Regional Meet is slated Wednesday and Friday at Massillon Perry High School.
