PORT WASHINGTON — Council members have decided to consult Village Solicitor Michael Cochran before proceeding with another round of bids for refuse pickup.
Council is considering on the possibility of enacting an ordinance for mandatory refuse pickup. The ordinance would enforcing every resident to obtain their own refuse pickup provider instead of the village entering into a contract for a provider for the entire village.
Council also heard that Memorial Day services was to begin at noon at the Union Cemetery. The parade was to begin from the cemetery following the services. The Delaware Fire Department was to have a chicken barbecue and the Old Town Hall will be opened. Historical Society members will be present at the Old Town Hall.
Council expressed gratitude for Buckeye Career Center students who painted the village cannons and also painted picnic tables and mulched at the Belden Park.
