BAKERSVILLE — On Saturday, June 16, the Bakersville Volunteer Fire Department will raise funds with a chicken barbecue and an antique tractor pull at the Bakersville Community Park, Route 751. Food will be served beginning at 4 p.m. The tractor pull will start at 6 p.m. The menu will include a half chicken, apple sauce, potato salad, roll, drink and dessert. G.E. Smith Reunion
The 100th G.E. Smith reunion will start with invocation at 1 p.m., June 24, at Cy Young Park, Shelter 7.
Work is set to begin Monday, June 11, on a SR 258 bridge repair project east of Newcomerstown at Dunlap Creek Road. SR 258 traffic will be maintained at all times with temporary traffic signals and 12-foot width restriction. Dunlap Creek Road will close at SR 258 for the duration of this work. Detour is SR 258 east to TR 118, then south on TR 118 to CR 4, then west on CR 4 back to Dunlap Creek Rd. (TR 115). Contractor is Shelly & Sands, Inc., and the completion is slated for Sept. 9.

Chestnut Hill Bluegrass band will host a Bluegrass Gospel and Country Music Jam on Fathers Day, June 17, from 2-5 p.m.. The Jam is sponsored by Everals Chapel Preservation Society and is open to all. Grill Master, Justin Gano will be cooking burgers and hot dogs on the grill, on the lawn. The event is free at the Historic Chapel, 60417 Everals Church Road, Newcomerstown. Donations will provide for repairs and maintenance of the 1860's era church.

The Newcomerstown Farmers Market began operating on May 11 in the Newcomerstown Public Library parking lot from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The main parking lot will be closed to traffic during the Farmers’ Market. The purpose of the Newcomerstown Farmers’ Market is to promote local agriculture and provide fresh, seasonal foods as well as locally grown plants and locally produced products for sale to the public. It will be open each Friday through the second Friday in October. The Newcomerstown Public Library hosts the Farmers’ Market free of charge. To participate, vendors must grow, raise or make what they sell. Vendors who live in Tuscarawas, Coshocton, Guernsey, Harrison and Holmes County will be given priority if space becomes limited. All vendors must complete and sign a vendor application including a Participation Waiver and Hold Harmless statement before setting up a booth. The West Lafayette Library is featuring the unique art of Jessica Rohr, during the month of June. A description of Jessica's art in her own words, "my watercolor artwork is a blend of imaginative realism, fantasy, and surrealism, and is inspired by imagination, emotion, nature, music and anything that catches my minds' eye." Library hours are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, noon to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Resurfacing is under way on State Route 751 in Coshocton County. The road is being resurfaced from West Lafayette to the Tuscarawas County line. Motorists can expect two lanes of traffic to be maintained with daily flagged lane closures. The contractor is Shelly Co. The estimated completion date is Oct. 15.
A Bluegrass Gospel / Country Music Jam is planned for the third Sunday of each month from 2-5 p.m. at the Historic Everals Chapel, 60417 Everals Church Road just west of Newcomerstown. The event is hosted by Chestnut Hill Bluegrass band and sponsored by Everals Chapel Preservation Society. Vacation Bible School
