It’s time to think autumn. Falling leaves. Raking. Saying goodbye to mowing (okay, that’s wishful thinking yet).
With autumn approaching, your Library has a few programs coming. On Friday, Sept. 7, kids can make a craft for their grandparents from 3-5 p.m. The program is for children preschool to fifth grade. On Saturday, Sept. 15, the Friends at the Table Cookbook Club has a special meeting at 1 p.m. Join the club to learn how to make smudge sticks. This Native American practice uses herbs to cleanse the air of your home. The session costs only $10. Be sure to sign up at your Library.
Patron Appreciation Day returns. This year, your Library wants to thank you for your support with a free walking taco bar. Join your Library for this taco lunch Wednesday, Sept. 26 from noon to 4 p.m.
Local genealogy enthusiasts need your help. They are working on the history of each street and building in Newcomerstown. The group is looking for people to help them sort and identify photographs of people and buildings. Of course, they are willing to help you with your family genealogy projects. You can access Ancestry, HeritageQuest, and other genealogy databases for free while in the library. If you have film negatives, you can use the digital microfilm machine to save digital black and white images. Large negatives, such as glass negatives, will need to be stitched together in graphic software like Photoshop and GIMP, but you’ll be able to save small negatives to your USB drive.
The Library wants to thank Sue Fechuch and her grandkids for the beautiful flowers at the entrance.
