Market moved

The Newcomerstown Farmers Market is moving to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church (121 S. College St., Newcomerstown) starting Sept. 21. The market will start at 9 a.m. Items are needed.

Blood tests

The Newcomerstown Rotary Club will host its annual fall blood screenings Saturday, Oct. 6, from 7-9:30 a.m. at the West Elementary School, 517 Beaver St. Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Centet will be conducting the screenings. Participants will need to preregister for the screenings by calling 740-435-2900 (If there’s no answer, leave your name and phone number and they will return your call). If you cannot attend after you have registered there is no penalty. The screenings will be done first come, first served as in the past. 12-hour fast is required but drinking water is encouraged. For more information, call 740-498-4545; leave a message if no one is in.

Rummage Sale

The Newcomerstown Senior Center is sponsoring a rummage sale October 11-12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. They will be accepting gently used items, household, collectibles. No heavy furniture or appliances. There will be sandwiches available on Friday. For more information contact the Senior Center at 740-498-4523.

Title I meeting

Parents and community members are invited to the Newcomerstown schools’ annual Title I informational meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 26 from 5-6 p.m. in the high school media center. Musical program

"A Celebration of the Music of Newcomerstown native Manuel Yingling." will take place on Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 121 S. College St., Newcomerstown. A roast beef dinner at a cost of $12. will start at 6 p.m. with a free concert to follow at 7 p.m. To get a dinner ticket, call at the Newcomerstown Museum, 740-498-7735, during museum hours: Oct. 4 , 4-7 p.m.; Oct. 6, 10 a.m. to noon; Oct. 11, 4-7 p.m.; Oct. 12, 10 a.m. to noon; Oct. 18, 4-7 p.m.; Oct. 20, 10 a.m. to noon. The menu includes roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad, roll, dessert, and a drink. Performers for the concert will include Main Street Brass and the Tubafours with Tim Marlatt playing the organ, accompanying Ron Geese. Yingling memorabilia will be displayed with organizers saying, "Wait till you see his trombone – beautiful!"

Spaghetti supper

Calvary United Methodist Church will host a spaghetti supper on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. The menu will include paghetti with homemade sauce, salad, applesauce, bread, beverage and homemade dessert.

Class of 1956

The Newcomerstown High School Class of 1956 will meet Thursday, Oct. 11, at noon at Shoney's on Commercial Parkway in Dover.

Class of 1957

The Newcomerstown High School Class of 1957 will meet at Tents of Grace in Gnadenhutten on Oct. 2 at noon for their monthly gathering.

Class of 1958

The Newcomerstown High School Class of 1958 is meeting for lunch at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Mindy's Diner, 221 W. Third Street, Dover.

Class of 1960

The Newcomerstown High School Class of 1960 will meet at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Raven's Glenn Winery, 56183 U.S. RT. 36, Newcomerstown.

Church dinner

PORT WASHINGTON — St. Paul’s United Church of Christ at the corner of High and Arch streets will have a pork and sauerkraut dinner from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, as part of the 150th anniversary of the incorporation of Port Washington. The cost will be $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Carry-out will be available. The menu includes low-roasted tender pork loin, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, dessert, roll and beverage.

Chili Church event

Kids 0-18 are invited to come enjoy cornhole and donuts holes on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 6:30 p.m. The free event at Chili Crossroads Bible Church, 29445 Co. Road 10, Fresno, includes fun games, Bible memory and snacks. For information, call 740-545-9707.

Art on display

Joan Staufer, a local professional artist, will be displaying a variety of older and recent landscape and abstract art in mixed media on wood and canvas at the West Lafayette Library during the month of September. The Library is open Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Music benefit

A Bluegrass Gospel / Country Music Jam is planned for the third Sunday of each month from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Historic Everals Chapel, 60417 Everals Church Road just west of Newcomerstown. The event is hosted by Chestnut Hill bluegrass band and sponsored by Everals Chapel Preservation Society. The event is free and open to the public, All donations and proceeds go toward maintenance and repairs of the old Historic church. Contact Duane Hardesty on 740-498-8456. Food and drinks available.
