The sign said, "It’s harvest time. Come gather with us."

When I think of harvest time I always remember the many jars of canned fruits and vegetables my mother prepared when I was a child. It seemed the shelves would hold no more of the peaches, blackberries, corn and green beans packed in jars to feed the family through the winter just ahead. And it is that time of year again. The shelves in many homes are quickly filling with a supply of food to fill the tables of each family during the coming winter.

As I drive I see the farmers working in the fields, gathering the harvest. They work to bring in the food supply to feed families and animals during the winter. I see many wagon loads of pumpkins going to market. It’s harvest time.

God’s Word tells us there will also be a harvest of souls. John 4:35 says the fields are white unto harvest. But laborers are needed. Can I help to harvest souls? I know I can tell others of how I got saved. I can show those who do not know what God’s Word says about salvation. II Corinthians 6:2 tells me that today is the day of salvation. It’s time to prepare for the coming eternity; time to bring in the harvest. I want to do my part. I want to see food added to the shelves. Most of all I would like to see names added to the Lamb’s Book of Life.

It’s a blessing to gather together during this God-given harvest time.
