Willard (Mike) Morton McCrone, 97, passed away peacefully into the Lord's hands, Nov. 9, 2018, at his home.

Willard was born May 8, 1921, in Newcomerstown, to the late Morton Mike and Wilda (Harbold) McCrone, the first of 3 sons. He was a member of the Newcomerstown High School Class of 1939 and played on the undefeated football team in 1938. He was a fan of most sports and followed local teams closely until his death.

Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the US Navy in 1942. He served for 41 months as an electrician aboard the USS Terazed in the Atlantic war zone and the USS PC-1564 in the Atlantic and Pacific war zones. Willard married his forever love, Patricia Louise Marlatt on September 18, 1948 in Russell, KY. They just celebrated their 70th anniversary this past September. Willard was a life long member of the Newcomerstown Church of Christ, where he often taught teen and adult Bible classes. He loved his church family.

Willard will be missed by his wife Pat; his daughter, Molly (Duke) DeLong, of Galena; his son, Terry McCrone, of Blanchester; five grandchildren, Darci (Josh) Belville, Abby (Jared) Irvine and Ty (Dolly) DeLong, all of Nashville, Meghan (Rick Hendricks) McCrone, of Fairfax, and Casey McCrone, of Milford; nine (soon to be 10) great-grandchildren, Brax, Brody and Everleigh Belville, Trevi, Joah, Marielle and Akaius Irvine, Reece Hendricks and Nora McCrone; and a niece and nephews.

Willard was preceded in death by his brothers, Roger (Scoop) McCrone and Lloyd (Squirt) McCrone.

Willard has requested no calling hours or funeral. There will be a Celebration of Life service at a later date, followed by graveside services.
