To honor the request of Barbara E. Hunt, 58, of Newcomerstown, her remains are to be cremated. No public visiting hours will be observed. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at 8 p.m. at the Ourant Funeral Home, Newcomerstown. Lloyd Tenney will conduct the services. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home on Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. She passed away late Friday, Dec. 5 at her residence following a short struggle with cancer.

Barbara was born in Newcomerstown on Feb. 16, 1950, a daughter of the late Emory William "Bill" Schupp Jr. and Hazel Hutzell Schupp Bear.

She attended Newcomerstown schools and was a homemaker for all of her adult life. For the past few years, she was employed as the assistant executive housekeeper with the Hampton Inn, Newcomerstown.

With the Hampton Inn, she received the Spirit of Hampton award. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, crocheting, and helping her family and many friends with their challenges in life.

Barbara is survived by her son, Joseph M. Hunt Jr. and his companion, Sam Nelson, both of Newcomerstown; two daughters, Amy L. Hunt of Zanesville and Tina M. Beckett of Coshocton; eight grandchildren, including two granddaughters who made their home with Barbara in Newcomerstown, Elizabeth "Beth" D. Beckett and Joyce E. "Joycie" Beckett; brother, William "Bill" (Elaine K.) Schupp of Shreve; sister, Shirley M. (Charles "Charlie") Campbell of Wooster; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family is requesting that memorials be made in Barbara's name to Health Services of Coshocton County (Hospice), P.O. Box 1284, Coshocton OH 43812; or to the family of Barbara E. Hunt, P.O. Box 68, Newcomerstown OH 43832.
