JAMES R. GRAHAM

1943-2009

James Russell "Jim" Graham, 65, a lifelong Newcomerstown resident, passed away early Saturday morning, March 7, 2009, in the emergency room of Coshocton County Memorial Hospital. To honor Jim's requests, his remains are to be cremated. No public visiting hours will be observed. Public graveside services to honor Jim's life will be held in West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown, at a later date at the family's convenience. At that time, those arrangements will be announced by the Ourant Funeral Home in Newcomerstown.

He was born in Coshocton on May 29, 1943, a son of the late Roy W. and Cora Ann Myers Graham.

He attended Newcomerstown High School and was employed as a truck driver with J&J Cores, Newcomerstown, for several years. He also drove for Boitnott Refuse, Uhrichsville, and was also a caretaker for the Tri-County Sportsmen's Club, Washington Township. He belonged to the Sons of the American Legion Post No. 431, Newcomerstown. Jim was known to have a keen sense of humor and a generous heart, as he was always there to lend family and friends a helping hand. He enjoyed playing his guitar, playing cards, fishing, hunting and all outdoor activities.

Jim is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rita K. Patterson Graham of Coshocton, whom he married Oct. 6, 1973.

He also leaves a son, James Robert Graham of Coshocton; a daughter and her fiancé, Jaynie R. Graham and Richard E. Lovell, both of Coshocton; a grandson, Trentin A. Brown of Coshocton; and two step-grandchildren, Vanessa K. Woody of Coshocton and Preston E. Lovell of Canton; one sister, Mary Meeks of Cambridge; one brother, Charles (Rena) Graham of Quaker City; a brother-in-law, E. Eugene Waller of Deming, N.M.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Kathryn Lee of Coshocton, Frances Waller of Tucson, Ariz., and infant Violet Graham of Newcomerstown.
