SYLVIA M. CREAGER

CANTON -- Sylvia M. (Treiber) Creager, 89, formerly of Canton, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, in the Canton Regency care facility.

Sylvia was born in Stock Township, Harrison County, and was preceded in death by her father, Harry C. Beall, who passed away in September 1949; and her mother, Bertha J. Christy Beall, who passed away July 27, 1962.

Sylvia was a graduate of Scio High School, Class of 1938, and faithfully attended the Scio High School Alumni Banquets on Memorial Day weekends for many decades. She was a former employee of the Naval Ordinance Plant and Aultman Hospital. Sylvia was a member of the Church of the Savior United Methodist Church, and was active with the United Methodist Women and the Stephen Ministries of the Church. She was also a member of the Ohio State University Mother's Club and was a regular volunteer for the United Way. Sylvia was an active golfer and swimmer and was a member of the Iron Ladies Golf League at the Edgewood Golf Course.

In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence Treiber, who passed away in 1962; and her second husband, Harry Creager, who passed away in 2002.

She was also the last member of her generation of the Beall family, as she was preceded in death by two sisters, C. Kathleen Mortland of Springfield, Mass., who passed away in 1966, and Marjorie E. Ourant of Newcomerstown, who passed away in 1999; and two brothers, J. Christy Beall of Columbus, who passed away in 1997, and Reymon Beall, Stock Township.

Sylvia is survived by three sons, Kim (Donna) Treiber of Canton, Dr. Keith (Debra) Treiber of Lakeview. Mich., and Dr. Bruce (Catherine) Treiber of Massillon; seven grandchildren, Steven and David Treiber, both of Canton, Amber and Apryl Treiber, both of Lakeview, Mich., Nicholas and Lauren Treiber, both of Massillon, and Tabitha Isham of Florida.

Funeral services to celebrate Sylvia's life were Saturday, July 3 in the Church of the Savior United Methodist Church, Canton. The Rev. Edward Fashbaugh conducted the services. Burial followed in the Sunset Hills Burial Park, Jackson Township. The Lamiell Funeral Home in Canton was in charge of arrangements.

The family is requesting that memorials be made in Sylvia's name to the Church of the Savior United Methodist Church, 102 Cleveland Ave. SW, Canton, OH 44702; or the Wilderness Center, P.O. Box 202, Wilmot, OH 44689.
