Clarence H. Hooker, Jr. passed away Sunday (August 8, 2010) at Lafayette Pointe Care Center in West Lafayette, Ohio, following a long illness.

Clarence was born Nov. 14, 1927 in Dennison, Ohio, son of the late Clarence and Norma (Wells) Hooker. Clarence is survived by his wife Doris (Robinson) Hooker and his children, Ron (Mary) Hooker, Rick (Ellen) Hooker and Sally (Bill) Parker; grandchildren Randall (Angel) Emig, Nicole (Bernie) Rusnak, Ryan (Laura) Emig; and great-grandchildren Alexia Lynn Wise, Randall Emig III, Kylie Emig and Kam Rusnak. He is also survived by a brother Dean (Pam) Hooker and sisters, Norma Jane (Mike) Dorsey and Carol Ann (Jim) Marsh, many nephews and nieces, and ten first cousins.

Clarence was preceded in death by his sister, Betty (William) Winters, and two brothers, Jim and Carl Hooker.

He was a lifelong resident of the Twin Cities and Newcomerstown. Clarence worked in the mining and trucking industries most of his life.

Clarence was a strong supporter of education. He was a former President of the Newcomerstown Board of Education and first board member representing Newcomerstown on the Joint Vocational School Board. He was a York Rite, Knight Templar, Canton #33, a life member of Lone Star Lodge & Nugent Royal Arch Chapter in Newcomerstown, a member of Gebal Council of Royal and Select Masons. Clarence was also a 32nd degree Member of the Valley of Cambridge Scottish Rite & Aladdin Temple Shrine in Columbus, Ohio.

Calling hours were held Tuesday, Aug. 10 at R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison, Ohio with a memorial service and Masonic services following. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown.

His family is indebted to all his wonderful doctors, nurses, and health care providers.

Clarence requested that donations in his honor be made to the Newcomerstown Emergency Rescue Squad.
