LAURA P. HAVER
Laura Patricia "Pat" Haver, 79, a resident of the Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Newcomerstown, for several years and a lifelong resident of Newcomerstown, passed away early Saturday morning, Nov. 27, 2010, at the Riverside Manor care facility.
Pat was born in Byesville on Nov. 1, 1931, a daughter of the late George W. and Rosa Saultz Buckey.
She was a graduate of Newcomerstown High School, Class of 1949. Pat was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Newcomerstown, and served on the church's Hospitality Committee and was a member of the Lois Circle. She also was a member of the former Newcomerstown Bridge Club and worked with the former JayCees' Wives in the production of the former Minstrel Shows. Pat also assisted in the Sweet Heart Follies productions. She enjoyed playing cards and cooking.
In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by husband, Willis W. Haver, Newcomerstown, who died April 26, 1982, and whom she married June 11, 1949. Also deceased are a sister-in-law, Carol J. Hootman Buckey, Newcomerstown, who died in 1994; and brothers-in-law, Wayne Cox, Adams Mills, and Frank E. Haver, Birmingham, Ala.
Pat is survived by two sons, Willis W. "Bill" (Deborah E. Landon) Haver Jr., Newcomerstown, and Robert A. "Bob" (Amy L. Harding) Haver, Columbus; grandson, Zachary W. (Shannon R. Mathews) Haver, Beavercreek; her brother, John E. "Jack" Buckey, Newcomerstown; her sister, Pauline (Charles) Helt, Adams Mills; sister-in-law, Marilyn Haver, Birmingham, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
To honor Pat's wishes, her remains are to be cremated. No visiting hours will be observed. Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date at Christ United Methodist Church, Newcomerstown, and will be announced at that time by the Ourant Funeral Home.
The family is requesting that memorials be made in Pat's name to Christ United Methodist Church, 648 Oak St., Newcomerstown, OH 43832; or the United Way of Tuscarawas County, 1458 5th St. NW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
