Willie Belle Harris, 96, Newcomerstown, passed away early Monday evening, Feb. 7, 2011, at Union Hospital, Dover.
Willie was born in Anniston, Ala., on March 11, 1914, a daughter of the late Seab and Clara Belle Johnson Jones.
She was employed as a custodian for the Newcomerstown School System for 25 years. Willie was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church, Newcomerstown, and was a member of the Missionary Society and pianist. She was also a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, reading, watching John Wayne movies on TV, and playing the piano.
Willie was preceded in death by husband, Henry T. Harris, who passed away Sept. 25, 1975. Also deceased are a son, John W. Harris of Newcomerstown; a daughter, Eleanor Toles of Massillon; and four grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Jeanna L. Jackson of Newcomerstown. Willie was also the last member of her generation of the Seab and Clara Jones family, having been preceded in death by sister Marie Jones and brothers Robert Lee Jones, Sidney Jones, and Calvin Morris.
She is survived by four sons, the Rev. Ralph H. Harris of Massillon, the Rev. Philip T. Harris of Sun Lakes, Ariz., and Richard T. (Lois) Harris and David A. (Doris) Harris, all of Newcomerstown; three daughters, Pauline (Sylvester) Young of Newcomerstown, Ruth (Alfonso) Myricks of Massillon and Vicki T. Jackson and her late husband, Dale Jackson of Newcomerstown. There are also numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to recognize these special family members who assisted Willie Belle the past several years: Tre Fite, Sylvester Young and Alfonso Myricks, who Willie Belle considered them like her own sons, and special thanks and gratitude to Charla and Greg Fite, Geneva Harris, Phyllis Smith, Delon Jackson, Keno and wife Traci Jackson, Alyssa Jackson, and her deceased granddaughter, Jeanna L. Jackson, and special thanks to Community Hospice employees Kelly and Marty for their support.
To honor Willie Belle's requests, no public visiting hours will be observed. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Robert Sherrell will officiate. Burial will follow in West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown.

The Ourant Funeral Home in Newcomerstown is assisting the family with all arrangements.
