Beverley Juanita Baker, 84, Newcomerstown, passed away early Sunday evening, April 10, 2011, at The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus.

Beverley was born in Coshocton on Jan. 10, 1927, the daughter of the late George W. and Anna Ruth Mathews Swalley.

She was a graduate of Coshocton High School, Class of 1944. She served as the office manager and assisted her husband with the ownership and operation of their former business, Baker Brothers Plumbing and Heating, Newcomerstown.

After this business closed, she went to the Huntington National Bank, Newcomerstown, where she was employed for 17 years before her retirement in 1984. She attended Calvary United Methodist Church, Newcomerstown. She was a member of the Friendly Welcome Club, Newcomerstown, and bowled in the leagues at Cy Young Lanes, Newcomerstown.

Beverley was also an avid reader and enjoyed working on word search puzzles, gardening, and raising flowers.

Beverley was preceded in death by husband, Norman Lewis Baker, Newcomerstown, who passed away June 28, 1989, and whom she married Nov. 23, 1947. Also deceased is her stepmother, Edna Park Swalley.

Beverley is survived by two daughters, Cathy L. (Ken) A. Douglass of Newcomerstown and Shelley L Baker of Westerville; two grandsons, Stephen John Clements of Newcomerstown and Ryan N. Douglass of Mineral City; a sister-in-law, Winifred "Winnie" Baker of Gnadenhutten; and her three special granddogs, "Duchess," Pooh key," and "Sparky."

Funeral services to celebrate Beverley's life were April 15, 2011, at the Ourant Funeral Home, Newcomerstown. The Rev. Eric Miller officiated the services.

Burial followed in the Coshocton County Memory Gardens.
