Rachel Lynn Speicher, 27, Newcomerstown, perished in a house fire at her Newcomerstown residence on Monday morning, May 30, 2011.
Rachel was born in the Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, Va., on May 1, 1984, and is survived by her mother, Victoria "Vickie" Law Pope, Newcomerstown.
She was a graduate of the Buckeye Career Center and Indian Valley High School, class of 2002. After graduation, she studied phlebotomy at the Buckeye Career Center and received an associate degree. She was a mother and homemaker for all her adult life. Rachel was happiest when she was spending time with her family and friends, and attending family functions.
One of Rachel's sons, Brandon Lee Speicher, also perished in the house fire. Rachel was preceded in death by her maternal great grandparents, Melvin and Zelma Watson, of Port Washington; and an uncle, Clayton G. Law, Virginia Beach, Va.
She is survived by her daughter, Justice Faith Speicher, a first grader at the West Elementary School, Newcomerstown; a son, Clayton David Speicher, who will enter kindergarten next year at Newcomerstown; her husband, Terry L. Speicher, Massillon; two brothers, Arthur C. "Tony" Schmitt and Corey M. Fox, both of Newcomerstown; her maternal grandparents, Roger D. and Elizabeth Maxine Law, Port Washington; her companion, Angel Gibson of Newcomerstown; her mother's companion, Richard Westhafer of Newcomerstown; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services to celebrate Rachel's life were Sunday, June 5, 2011, at the Ourant Funeral Home, Newcomerstown, and burial was Monday, June 6 in the North Salem Cemetery, Liberty Township, Guernsey County.
