Jessie A. McVey, 79, of Newcomerstown, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at Southeastern Med, Cambridge.
He was born July 20, 1932, in Newcomerstown, to the late Terance McVey and Thelma C. (Kenny) McVey.
He was a 20-year Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam and Korean wars. He also served in the National Guard for two years.
He was married to Carol (Carruthers) McVey, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his companion, Arletta Dakin of Newcomerstown; one son, Jessie McVey of Winter Garden, Fla.; one granddaughter; two brothers, Terry (Jasenka) McVey of Cambridge, Chester R. (Deloris) McVey of Newcomerstown; and two sisters, Mary Billings of Coshocton and Margaret (Wayne) Hutchison of Newcomerstown.
He was preceded in death by one son, Fredrick Myles McVey; four brothers, Theodore Dick, Robert L., Samuel K., and John McVey; and one sister, Jenny Bourne.
Services were Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at the Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown, with the Rev. Jim Reed officiating.
Burial was in the West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown.
Military graveside service were conducted by the Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard.
