CLARICE A. SCOLES 1924-2012

The family of Clarice A. (Britt) Scoles, 88, of Palm Harbor, Fla., formerly from Fort Myers, Fla., and Monroe, Mich., announces with sorrow the death of their mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. There are no services planned at this time. Cremation has taken place, fulfilling her wishes.

Born June 2, 1924, in Newcomerstown, Ohio, she was the daughter of Charles and Jennie (Gibson) Britton.

She graduated in 1942 from Newcomerstown High School. She then graduated from Ohio Business College of Columbus, Ohio, in 1944. She married Robert W. Scoles Sr. on Oct. 7, 1945, in Newcomerstown, Ohio.

She worked as the head secretary for 20 years at Jefferson Middle School, retiring in 1978 from Jefferson Public Schools, Monroe, Mich.

She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Monroe, Mich., and a past member of the Thrift Shop of Monroe. She enjoyed traveling, entertaining family and friends, playing Bunko, playing golf, walking, shelling, cooking, baking Christmas cookies to send north to her family, and she loved her pets dearly.

Surviving are two sons, Robert W. (Barbara) Scoles II of Clearwater, Fla., and Thad W. (Marcia) Scoles of Monroe, Mich.; daughter, Kathy A. Judd of Muskegon, Mich.; grandchildren, Trisha A. (Lee Roberts) Krager, Robert W. (Susan) Scoles III, Joshua H. Scoles, Jonathan S. (Tom Barton) Chadwick, Matthew (Andrea) Scoles, Mark Scoles, Sara (Chris) Bica, Robert C. Judd, Ryan G. (Amanda Mcdonald) Judd, and Adam P. Judd; great-grandchildren, Bethany A. Krager, Bryan E. Krager, Emily M. Scoles, Jonathan Z. Summers, Whitney M. (Chad) Traywick, Kathryn E. Scoles, Oliver A. Scoles, Rooney M. Scoles, Aiden G. Judd, Connor P. Judd; and great-great grandchildren, Mary J. Traywick and Colton Traywick.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003; brother, Robert Britton; and sister, Betty Thomas.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
