Clyde Casteel, 69, of Newcomerstown, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at Lafayette Pointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, West Lafayette, following a two year illness.
He was born to the late Madison Matt and Mary (King) Casteel.
He attended school at the Washington Township Elementary School and Port Washington High School.
He was self-employed prior to his retirement, and had owned several businesses over the years.
He was a 40-year member of the Newcomerstown Masons.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, the former Gladys Wise.
He is also survived by two sons, William Casteel of West Lafayette and Michael (Kathryn) Casteel of Kimbolton; one grandson; Mitchell Alan of Kimbolton; two bothers, Richard (Dorothy) Casteel and David (Jeannie) Casteel, all of Newcomerstown; a sister, Doris (Phillip) Smith of Baltic; and a sister in-law. Gerry Casteel of Newcomerstown. He is also survived by extended family members, Dave (Jeannette) Russell, Maggie (John) Crosswhite, Hugh (Irma) Everson, and Natalie Jones, all of Newcomerstown.
He will also be greatly missed by his canine companion, Teddy.
He was proceeded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Robert; and three sisters, Elsie and Jessie (twins), and Mary Carol.
In honor of his wishes, there will be no calling hours.
The family is planning a memorial service at a later date.
