J. Stephen Kelley "Steve" or "Goldie" Golden, 55, Newcomerstown, passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 26, 2012, in the Lafayette Pointe Nursing Home, West Lafayette.
Steve was born in Dover on Sept. 13, 1956, and is survived by his mother, Edith J. Golden Myers, Newcomerstown.
He was a graduate of Newcomerstown High School, Class of 1974.
"Goldie" also attended oil drilling and exploration classes in Athens, as well as electrician training classes. Steve was a self-employed carpenter for the past several years. Before that, he was an employee of Bill Maple Construction, Coshocton, where he worked for many years as an electrician, carpenter, and plumber. He was a former member of the Sons of the American Legion, Thomas Montgomery Post 431, Newcomerstown.
"Goldie" enjoyed motorcycle riding as a favorite recreational activity, along with collecting knives. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Steve was preceded in death by his step-father, Elmer J. Myers, Newcomerstown, who helped to raise him. Elmer died in 2010.
In addition to his mother, Edith, he is survived by three sisters, Robin L. (Denny) Robinson of West Lafayette, and twin sisters, Sheryl L. Little and her companion, James R. McDonnell, Newcomerstown, and Sherry L. (David W.) Butler, Newcomerstown; his brother, Duane Scott and wife Shawna Myers, New Philadelphia; three nephews, Dustin S. Robinson of West Lafayette, Joshua Andrew Wagner of Dundee, and Greg A. Little of Newcomerstown; a great-nephew, Conrad S. Robinson of West Lafayette; an aunt, Geneva Trimble of Cleveland; and an uncle, Victor (Sally) Myers of Seattle, Wash.; three step-nephews, Ronnie J. Plants and Gene A. Plants, both of New Philadelphia, David W. "Pete" Butler of Marion; and a step-great-nephew, David J. Sanders of West Virginia.
To honor Steve's wishes, his remains are to be cremated. Steve's family met and receive friends March 2, 2012, at the Ourant Funeral Home, Newcomerstown. Memorial services to celebrate Steve's life were March 2, 2012, at the funeral home.
