William M. Mardis Jr., 79, of Newcomerstown, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012, at his residence.

He was born June 23, 1932, in Newcomerstown, to the late William M. Mardis Sr. and Helen Grace (Rothenstine) Mardis.

He was a 1950 Newcomerstown High School graduate. He was a Korean War US Army Veteran. He worked at Wicks Lumber of Port Washington for 36 years and was an inventory manager and head salesman. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Newcomerstown.

He is survived by his wife, Martha (Brick) Mardis, whom he married May 5, 1952.

Also surviving is one daughter, Lisa Jane (Don) Baker of Newcomerstown; three sons, William M. (Brenda) Mardis III, John V.Mardis, and Jack D. (Karen) Mardis, all of Newcomerstown; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Helen C. (William) Lehman of Newcomerstown.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Phillip Mardis; and one sister, Shirley Graham.

Services will be Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown, with the Rev. Eric Miller officiating.

Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown.

Military service will be conducted by Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard.
