Clarence F. "Terry" Silverthorn, 71, a resident of the Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Newcomerstown, formerly of Cross Street, Newcomerstown, passed away late Thursday night, March 22, 2012, in the Riverside Manor care facility.

Terry was born in Coshocton on Oct. 4, 1940, and was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence F. Silverthorn Sr., Newcomerstown, who died in 1971, and Thelma A. "Sue" Irwin Silverthorn, Newcomerstown, who died in 1996.

He was a graduate of Newcomerstown High School, class of 1959. Terry was an Army veteran, serving in Oakland, Calif., from 1963 to 1965. He was employed at the former General Electric Company, Coshocton, as a machine operator for over 26 years. Terry was a member of the Everal's United Methodist, Oxford Township, Coshocton County. He also was a life member of the BPOE 1555, Newcomerstown Elks Lodge, where he served as past exalted ruler. Terry also belonged to the American Legion, Post 65, Coshocton, and the VFW Post 1330, Coshocton.

In addition to his parents, Terry was also preceded in death by his wife, Roberta K. Chapman Silverthorn, Newcomerstown, who passed away April 15, 2001, and whom he married March 12, 1966. Also deceased is his brother-in-law, Marvin L. Jones, Gnadenhutten.

He is survived by his sister, Nancy C. Jones, Gnadenhutten; a niece, Cathy Sue (Roger) Hindman, Gnadenhutten; and several cousins, including his caregiver, the Rev. Donald Silverthorne, Newcomerstown.

Funeral services to celebrate Terry's life were March 28, 2012, at the Ourant Funeral Home, Newcomerstown. Pastor Murray McMillan conducted the services. Burial followed in Everal's Church Cemetery, Oxford Township, Coshocton County. Elks Lodge services were held in the funeral home.

The family is suggesting that memorials be made in Terry's name to the Everal's Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 229, Newcomerstown, OH 43832.
