BAKERSVILLE -- Doris E. Harstine, 82, of Baltic, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Union Hospital.

She was born Sunday, Jan. 12, 1930, in Bakersville, to the late Albert and Christina (Ott) Hawk.

She was a 1948 graduate of West Lafayette High School.

Doris was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She loved gardening, baskets and cooking. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and her cat, Mickey.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Newcomerstown.

She was married to Robert Harstine on Jan. 18, 1948.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Christine Heifner (Nicholas) Graor of Brecksville, Steven Harstine of West Lafayette, Linda (Terry) Saylor of Canton, Lorri Knotts of Sugarcreek, and Robert (Jane) Harstine of Dover.

Doris was a loving nana to her grandchildren, Kirk and Christian Heifner, Nick and Justin Harstine, Zack, Derek, Nate, and Kyle Saylor, Camille Kinkade, Lydia Knotts, Matt Harstine; a great-granddaughter, Lila Kinkade; her brothers, Bill (Maxine) Hawk of Dover, Jim (Phyllis) Hawk of New Philadelphia, Gordon (Marilyn) Hawk of East Sparta, and Robert Hawk of West Lafayette; her sister, Nancy (Emil) Chovan of Massillon; and her sister-in-law, Wilma Hawk of Dover.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Jake Shook; her brother, Russell Hawk; and her sister-in-law, Betty Hawk.

Graveside services were Sunday, April 22, 2012, at the Bakersville Cemetery with Pastor Derek Hickman officiating. The Addy Funeral Home in Newcomerstown was in charge of arrangements.
