Doris Jean (Pollock) Sharrock, 86, of Newcomerstown, passed away late Saturday morning, May 19, 2012, in the Schoenbrunn Health Care Center, New Philadelphia, following an extended illness.

Doris was born in Newcomerstown on March 2, 1926, and was preceded in death by her parents, John H. and Mable Haver Smith.

She was a member of the Newcomerstown High School, Class of 1945.

Doris Jean was a homemaker and caregiver for all of her life and enjoyed cooking, walking, and gardening. She was a very loving person who always put others first. Doris was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Newcomerstown and the Newcomerstown Senior Citizens.

She also enjoyed attending garage sales and spending time with her family and friends. Doris was employed as an assembler with Jones-Zylon, West Lafayette, for over 14 years before her retirement in 1991.

Doris was preceded in death by her first husband, William Craig Pollock, Newcomerstown, who died July 13, 1973. Also deceased is her second husband, Chester E. Sharrock, Newcomerstown, who died June 3, 2006. Doris and Chester were married Oct. 16, 1989.

Doris was also preceded in death by her son, Terry Lee Pollock, Coshocton, who died Aug. 30, 2007. She was also the last member of her generation of the Smith family, as she was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Smith; and her sister, Gladys Schlarb of Salem. Also deceased is her brother-in-law, Roy Schlarb of Salem.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Sandra K. (Linn W.) Loomis of Newcomerstown; daughter-in-law, Brenda Pollock of Dennison, and her brother-in-law, Thomas (Jo Ann) Pollock of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Jennifer (Charles) Turner of Reynoldsburg, David Loomis and companion Lori Colvin of Newcomerstown, and Craig Lee Pollok; one great-grandson, Ian Turner, Reynoldsburg; her extended family of grandchildren, Jim, Michele, Sean, and Chris; several other great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

To honor Doris's wishes, her remains are to be cremated. No public visiting hours or services will be observed.

A private burial of her cremains will be held at a later date at the convenience of her family.

The family is requesting that memorials be made in Doris' name to the Community Hospice of Tuscarawas, Carroll, and Stark Counties, 716 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
