Jay Robert Fairchild, 76, originally of Newcomerstown, passed away Monday, July 16, 2012, at his home in Albuquerque, N.M.

Born Feb. 20, 1936, to the late John Robert Fairchild and Retha Isabelle Richmond Fairchild, he was an avid lover of firearms, hunting, fishing, and sport shooting. He traveled and lived in numerous areas of Ohio and the United States, and had a number of occupations throughout his life including the railroad, construction and police work. In his early life, he played the violin.

He was preceded in death by a brother, E. Vaughn Fairchild, formerly of Newcomerstown.

Jay is survived by his son, Jack (Judy) Duff of Newcomerstown; his brother, Richard "Dick" (Diana) Fairchild of Newcomerstown; daughters, Jennifer Fairchild of Clover, S.C., and Sommer Fairchild of New Philadelphia; granddaughter, Kennedy Hensley of Newcomerstown; nieces and nephews; and various family members in Ohio, New Mexico, Oregon and other parts of the country.

There will be no public memorial service.
