CIRCLEVILLE -- Paul E. Roan, 76, of Circleville, passed away Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at Berger Hospital in Circleville.

He was born July 4, 1936 in Bellaire, the son of the late Earl Edward and Catherine Mary (Kauffman) Roan.

He was a graduate of Newcomerstown High School and received his degree in radiology from Carnegie Tech.

Paul was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Circleville, where he served on the staff parish.

Paul was employed in the lab at Berger Hospital from 1955 until 1976 and also worked in the lab at Container Corporation from 1976 until his retirement in 1997.

He had served on Circleville City Council for many years and was treasurer for the City of Circleville for 16 years. Paul also served as Circleville City Health Commissioner before the health department combined with the county. He had served on the board at Hands for Disabled and just recently retired from the board at Brown Memorial Home. He enjoyed meeting with the Berger Hospital Retirees at Goodwins each month.

Paul's greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sue C. (Jones) Roan of Circleville; his daughter, Cheri (Dale) Clay of Obetz; sons, Kevin (Christine) Roan of Circleville and David (Tracy) Roan of Springfield; grandchildren, Ashley (Travis) Conrad, Amber (Lance) Boyer, Devon and Graham Roan; sister, Carole (Sonny) Anderson of Dover; brother, Danny (Barbara) Roan of Eagle Lake, Texas; and sisters-in-law, Linda Jones and Judy (Dan) Graham of Coshocton.

Graveside service were Aug. 24, 2012, in the Forest Cemetery, Circleville, with Pastor Greg Swann officiating. The Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 151 E. Main St., Circleville, was in charge of arrangements.
