SENECAVILLE -- Kenneth Wayne Laughlin, 91, of Pleasant City, passed away Friday (Jan. 18, 2013) at his home.
He was born May 22, 1921, in Chaseville, son of the late Leland B. and Nellie R. (Rossiter) Laughlin.
Mr. Laughlin retired in 1974 from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, after 26 years of service.
He was a member of Senecaville United Methodist Church, a 1939 graduate of Senecaville High School and a 1948 graduate of the Ohio State Patrol Academy the 26th class. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II as technical sergeant.
Kenneth was very active in the Masons and Scottish Rites, holding a 32nd Degree, Scottish Rite Valley, Cambridge, memberships in Marietta Commendery No.50, KT, the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio, American Union Chapter No. 1 RAM, Grand Council-Royal and Select Masons of Ohio, Marietta Council No.78, Marietta York Rite Bodies, Masonic Temple - No. 1 Masonic Lodge of Marietta, and a member of the Delaware Veterans Council Auxiliary.
He also enjoyed volunteering as an assistant with the Boy Scouts, hunting, fishing, farming and trapping as a youth.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Marjorie Ruth (Campbell) Laughlin, whom he married June 25, 1950, and passed away Nov. 1, 2011.
He is survived by two daughters, Nitia (Ron) Bettinger of Columbus and Karen (Ben) Williams of Alpharetta, Ga.; two sons, William James Laughlin of Chaseville and Stephen W. Laughlin of Monroe, Mich.; two granddaughters, Caitlin (Jonathan) Odess of Roswell, Ga., and Jennifer Lynn Williams of Alpharetta; two sisters, Betty Murphy of Carrollton and Geneva Thompson of Chaseville; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at the Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Senecaville.
Graveside services were Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, in Senecaville Cemetery with Pastor James Garrett officiating.
