Lucille E. Powell, 94 of Lebanon, Tenn., formerly of Newcomerstown, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at The Pavilion Nursing Center, Lebanon, Tenn.
She was born Sunday, Oct. 6, 1918, in Kimbolton, to the late Herman and Grace (Taylor) Smith.
She was a 1936 Plainfield High School graduate. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Newcomerstown and had volunteered at Riverside Manor Care Center, Tri-County Ambulance Service and the Red Cross blood mobile.
On Wednesday, Dec. 7, 1938, she married Vernon Powell, who died Nov. 29, 2005.
She is survived by two sons, Darrell Powell of Palm Coast, Fla., Delvin Powell of Largo, Fla.; one daughter, Ellen (James) Kidwell of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one daughter-in-law, Linda Powell of Battlecreek, Mich.
She was preceded in death by one son, Loren Powell; one sister, Pearl Powell; and two sister-in-laws, Cathy and Barbara.
Services were Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, in the Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown, with Pastor Tom Barber officiating.
Burial was in Guernsey County Memory Gardens.
