Virgil Vernon (VV) Foland, 77, of Newcomerstown, passed away at his home in rural Newcomerstown on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2013, after a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.
He was born Feb. 3, 1936, to Hugh and Lorene Everly Foland in Cuyahoga Falls. Both of his parents preceded him in death.
He attended Cuyahoga Falls High School and served as a chaplain's assistant in the U.S. Marine Corps during his active military service. He was active as a lay minister in the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship, serving in international programs for the organization. He was president of the Fellowship's Southeastern U.S. chapter for several years, while residing in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
He is survived by his brother, Dale Foland of New Philadelphia; sisters, Sherry Chronister of Aurora, Wilma Foland of Newcomerstown, and Freda Carlsen, Poplar Grove, Ill.; sons, Dean Foland of Raleigh, N.C., and Ken Foland, Canton; daughters, Lori Lee Jordan of Sonoma, Calif., and Julie Whidden of Naples, Fla.; and grandchildren, Tara Jordan, Kayla and Kendra Whidden, and DJ and Krista Foland.
