WASHINGTON, N.C. -- Christena Bassett Findley, 65, a resident of John Small Avenue, Washington, N.C., passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2013.
There was a celebration of her life Wednesday, Nov. 27 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service, Washington, N.C., officiated by Pastor Ben Kifer. Burial will be private.
Mrs. Findley was born May 13, 1948, in Cambridge, daughter of the late Rodney Bassett and Shirley Vierhiller Bassett Philpott, who survives.
She was a 1966 graduate of Newcomerstown High School.
Christena was married to Carl E. Findley Jr., who survives. Together, they owned and operated All Secure Lock & Key where she served as office manager until her retirement in 2011.
She loved to travel and loved her grandchildren very much.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her children, Jenny Bonner and husband Bryan of Washington and Carl Findley III and wife Diane of Warwick, RI; her sisters, Gail Moyer and Holly Phillips, both of Newcomerstown, Ohio; her step-father, Clarence Philpott of Newcomerstown, Ohio; and her grandchildren, Carter Findley, Trippe Bonner, Carleigh Findley and Adam Bonner.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her nephew, David A. Raach Jr.
