Waldon M. "Walt" Walters, 83, of Newcomerstown, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Dec. 30, 1929, in Newcomerstown, to the late Waldon and Mary (McKinley) Walters.
He was a 1948 Newcomerstown High School graduate and a Korean War U.S. Navy veteran. He worked as a millwright in California. He was a member of Elks Lodge 1555 of Newcomerstown and USS Kidd Assoc. He was an avid golfer, antique car collector, and a Pop Warner and Little League coach for many years.
On Sept. 20, 1953, he married Ann E. (Tilton) Walters, who survives.
Also surviving are two children, Susan (Christopher) Crompton of Orange, Calif., and Donald Walters of Cannon Lake, Calif.; two grandchildren, Matthew and Ryan Walters; one step-grandchild, Jordan Crompton; two brothers, Wallace (Florence) Walters of Newcomerstown and Roland Walters of Augusta; and four sisters, Barbara (Al) Hansen of Pembrooke Pines, Fla., Joan (Ben) Wiley of Cuyahoga Falls, Shirley Lepre of Parma, Pat (Guilford) Rice of Searcy, Ark.
He was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Walters; two brothers, Bernard and Jack Walters; two sisters, Gwendolyn Osler and Winifred Brown.
Services were Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, in the Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown, with the Rev. Larry Hukill officiating.
Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery.
Military graveside service were conducted by the Newcomerstown Honor Guard.
