Ollie 'Earl' Roberts

1932-2017

Ollie "Earl" Roberts, age 85, passed away after a long illness on April 16, 2017, at his residence in Kimbolton, Ohio. Ollie was born on January 29, 1932, in Clearfield, Kentucky to the late Eddie and Ethel Roberts. In 1952, he joined the United States Army, where he served for 2 years in the Medical Corps. In 1972, Ollie accepted the Lord as his Savior. On July 29, 1952, Ollie married Ida Kathryn (Fannin) Roberts and they accomplished one of his life-long dreams and bought a farm in Kimbolton, where he worked alongside his sons for more than 25 years. Ollie was a great family man and a loving father. They were blessed to have 8 children together, 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Ollie is survived by his loving wife, Ida Roberts of Kimbolton; Sons and their families, Steven Roberts of Kimbolton, Billy (Cathy) Roberts of Columbia Station, Jerry (Lisa) Roberts of Berea, Timmy (Janet) Roberts of Elyria and Ricky (Fran) Roberts of Kimbolton; daughters and their families, Debi (Jerry) Thompson and Faye (Jeff) Farley, both of Medina; brother, Jackie Roberts of Morehead, Kentucky and sister, Mary Jane Hall-Jackson of Strasburg. He is preceded in death by his son, Mike Roberts and 12 of his other siblings.

Ollie was a strong-willed, active man who was deeply involved in his church, Village Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on the farm, sitting on his porch soaking in the sun and an amazing life God had given him. His family and friends will always remember him as a devoted Christian and a true fighter down to his last days.

A viewing was held Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at the Addy funeral home from 4-6 p.m. for family and 6-8 p.m. for visitors. The funeral service was Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the Village Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with A.C. Dockery officiating and a visitation one hour prior. The burial took place at West Lawn Cemetery. All were welcomed to attend and celebrate Ollie's life.
