Marvin D. Stocker, 83 of West Lafayette, passed away Monday, January 09, 2017 at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge.

He was born Wednesday, Sept. 20, 1933, in Port Washington to the late Walter and Ruth Ellen (Grewell) Stocker.

He was a Newcomerstown High School graduate class of 1951, Marvin was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran serving from 1952 until 1956.

He retired from Simonds Industries of Newcomerstown in 1983.

Marvin was a member of Newcomerstown Church of the Nazarene, American Legion Thomas C. Montgomery Post 431 of Newcomerstown and the VFW Lodge of Tuscarawas.

He enjoyed collecting antique cars and model cars. On Sunday, Feb. 10, 1957, he married Dolores Y. (Davis) Stocker who survives.

Marvin is also survived by four children, Debra (Art) Hursey, Vickie (David) Crossman, Karen (Tim) Mathews and Dwain Stocker all of Newcomerstown; eight grandchildren, Andy (Mandy) and Eric (Amanda) Hursey, Nick (Brittany) Mathews, Whitney (Ben) Miner, Samantha (Nick) Rotruck, Taylor (Matt Ayers) Crossman, Erica (Stocker) Hamilton; nine great-grandchildren, Daniel, Aydan, Olivia, Adyson and Elana Hursey, Alivia, Aliza and Austin Kidwell, Cohen Mathews and Bella Ayers; two sisters, Tacy Hewitt of Florida and Shirley Dawson of Coshocton; brother-in-law, Wayne Mossman of Springfield, Mo.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Willis Stocker; two sisters, Opal Stonebrook and Ruth Mossman.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 12, at 11 a.m. at the Addy Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Gray officiating.

Burial took place at the Coshocton County Memory Gardens.

Visitation was Wednesday, Jan. 11 from 5-8 p.m. at the Addy Funeral Home.

Military graveside services were conducted by the Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard.
