Samuel F. Swinderman, 101, of Newcomerstown, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, February 6, 2017, at the Community Hospice House.

He was born Thursday, September 28, 1915, in Brightwood, Ohio to the late Samuel Rudolph Swinderman and Lura Etta (Meese) Swinderman.

On October 23, 1982, he married Alice Jane (Griffith) Swinderman, who survives. He was previously married to Margaret Martha (Jones) who passed away in April of 1980.

He was a member of the U.S. Army and served our country during World War II. He worked as a lineman for AEP and later retired from Norton Co. in Mineral City.

He was a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the Newcomerstown Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by his children, Susan F. (Daniel) Fletcher of Butler, Pa., Judy (James) Francisco of Albany, Ohio, Kathy McMasters of Port Washington, Kenneth (Cathy) Douglass of Newcomerstown, Steve (Pamela) Douglass of New Philadelphia, and Michael E. Douglass of Newcomerstown; as well as nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel; six sisters, Clara, Violia, Bernice, Freida, Elsie, and Catherine; step-sister, Velma and son-in-law, Neale Crawford.

Services were held Friday, February 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Newcomerstown Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating. The burial took place at the German Cemetery in Mineral City with Military graveside services conducted by the Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard.

A visitation was held Thursday, February 09, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Addy Funeral Home in Newcomerstown.
